Scorpion Centre Pull

ACT SCORPION CENTRE-PULL Cable and hose Handling and Protection System

Original

Manufactured to the original, patented ‘Centre-Pull’ design.

Functions

Scorpion Centre Pull separates the cable and hose throughout the length of the handler, offering control, support and protection of water and electrical services.

Stability

Scorpion Centre-Pull is towed by the central spine, creating a level and balanced entry into the cable trough, reducing twist, wear and delays. The cable is usually loaded on the face side.

Retention

Variations of nibbed and plain links are available. Every link can be ‘fully nibbed’ where adverse conditions exist and small cable diameters allow uncontrolled release. Every other link can be ‘alternate nibbed’ which is harder wearing, lower cost and dis-applied where cable retention is not compromised. Various combinations of nibbed and plain links can be specified to facilitate easy cable removal. Six 1.6m lengths of fully nibbed Scorpion should be installed at both the shearer and the mid-point in the case of Longwall.

Easy Access

Cable and Hose are contained separately, allowing removal of one without disturbing the other.

Minimum Width

Scorpion Centre-Pull is the narrowest of its type in use today, affording minimal tip to face distance.

75% in plan and up to 96% side protection is achieved by customising capacities to suit cable and hose diameters. The ingress of sharp objects and abrasives is minimised dramatically, extending the life of cable and hose.

Design

Scorpion Twin Pull’s robust, pin-less, clip-free, design improves on what is already a superior, hard wearing product. The robust, triple interlock principle allows quick and simple access to cable and hose.

Availability

Scorpion Twin-Pull is supplied in sizes which accept the main cable and fluid hose sizes in use today. Capacities are based on cable and hose coupling diameters. A locator for a communications cable can be inserted internally if required.

Easy Access

The cable or hose can be maintained or removed using the most basic tools, or the tools provided with the handler by ACT.

Towing Strength

Up to 17.4 Tonnes towing strength, giving greater reliability for longer expanses and debris filled troughs.
All Scorpion Handlers should be towed with the ‘Male’ end leading and the ‘Female’ end trailing.

Scorpion Tri-Pull Crossover’s robust, pin-less, clip-free design improves what is already a superior, hard wearing product. The robust, triple interlock principle allows quick and simple access to cable and hose.
Individually designed to accommodate, manage and protect service cables and hoses at ‘Crossover’ points at maingate and tailgate.

Easy Access

The service cables and hoses are easily accessed and managed by the separation of services, which are easy to use, install and maintain with only the basic tools required.

Suspension

The Crossover cable and hose handler can be suspended on a Monorail System with the purpose designed hanging brackets.

Miner Scorpion

In 2012 ACT Europe and Australia, designed, manufactured and patented a complete moulded cable and hydraulic hose protection solution for all types of heavy use machinery, initially for underground continuous miner roof and rib bolting rigs.

The Miner Scorpion has been created from the company’s Scorpion Twin and Tri Pull cable and hose handlers.

Use

Miner Scorpion originally designed for drill rig applications is however is now used for a multitude of applications when high wear resistance capabilities, general resilience and reliability are all required.

Design

The design allows machinery to extend and retract without the hazard of snagging the hoses and causing premature failure. Machine operators can access the hoses easily but the system prevents hoses becoming accidentally disengaged.

Easy Access

The Miner Scorpion allows for segregation between electrical and hydraulic cables and hoses if required.

Availability

Miner Scorpion will take hose diameters up to 30mm and a minimum of three hoses and or cables. Should one of those hoses need replacing, it is not a time consuming operation.
Increased Protection

The patented side access system offers enhanced performance while each link keeps the ability to protect the hoses and cables even under the most arduous of conditions. It keeps the hoses contained, controlled and protected while allowing the use of individual hoses within the protection system. The system is designed to allow for wear and impact damage

Aconda has been designed to accommodate the increased Fluid flow, air & voltage required of tomorrows higher capacity requirements. Minimum moving times, longer distances between separation & decreased Labour & Maintenance have all been achieved using experience & innovative design.

Various Widths

To suit a wide range of services. Reduced widths without decrease in capacity. Each link also has a choice of two heights to facilitate the above. Main Level has two positions for maximum variation of capacity.

Link Suspension Variable

Each link is designed to accept a suspension link to accept floor and roof undulations.

Wing Design

All wing supporting surfaces are:
• Contoured to prevent cable & hose damage
• Corrugated for strength
• Steel spine reinforced to add strength & stability

Operational Health & Safety Considerations

No sharp corners on wings, all pins and ‘S1’ clips can be removed with gloved hand. No steel components with sharp corners or edges.

Electrical, Fluid & Air Separation

All wings are designed to accept Partitions to separate services for ease of maintenance & safety in various positions according to cable & hose size.

Easy Access

All Internal & Upper level services have easy open access with simple & quick removal of ‘S1’ lip retainer pins.
